Aubrey Sabre

Hi, I’m Aubrey! I am a full-time single parent and Interdisciplinary Studies student and student of life, community advocate, practicing herbalist and aspiring community architect. I have been working in event planning in community organizing for six years now. I’m turning my personal need for consistent friendship, support and connection into a meaningful research project during and beyond my college career. This work blends my passions for normalizing the necessity of togetherness, holistic healing and wellness, building relationships, fostering collaboration, and creating spaces where people feel supported and seen. What started as a personal journey has grown into a professional and educational endeavor to strengthen community ties and invite others—kids and parents included—to join in and build up community. Together, we can shape a more connected and caring world. I’d like to be active in supporting the movement of more togetherness. We need each other. This work and movement will be implemented through events, gatherings, workshops, and classes.

My work is rooted in community organizing, communications, and event planning, paired with a deep passion for connection—to ourselves, to each other, and to the natural world. I believe togetherness is essential, and I’m committed to making it a consistent and valued part of our lives. Through personal experiences and academic study, I’ve explored how meaningful connection can heal and strengthen us, creating a foundation for a richer, more resilient life.

In 2020, I became a tiny homeowner, a decision that reflects my creative, resourceful approach to living intentionally and pursuing dreams. As a homeschooling mother, I treasure the slow, thoughtful mornings spent with my son, setting a tone of connection and rhythm for our day. Homeschooling has allowed me to build a life that’s flexible and aligned with our needs, one that prioritizes creativity, community involvement, and deep learning. I’m currently working on building a homeschool group care program to create shared support and opportunities for families to come together in meaningful ways.

Nature plays an integral role in my life. Gardening, foraging for wild medicines, crafting herbal remedies, and creating nourishing meals are some of my favorite ways to connect with the world around me. There’s magic in watching seeds grow, a reminder of life’s beauty and mystery. In 2023, I completed a 10-month herbal studies program at the Dandelion Herbal Center, which deepened my understanding of plants’ healing properties and their importance in supporting overall well-being.

In 2023, I established Tending Reciprocity, an initiative built around the idea of bringing people together in ways that feel real and impactful. Through eBooks, homeschool cooperatives, dating events, communication workshops, and community festivals, I’m creating opportunities for people to connect, share, and grow. My goal is to design resources and events that can be recreated in other communities, inspiring more people to cultivate their own networks of support and resilience.

I believe children are the future, and their presence should be welcomed as a vital part of community life. My journey as a homeschooling mom has taught me how essential it is to prioritize family and relationships over rigid systems that often don’t serve us. The events I plan always consider families, offering child-friendly spaces or on-site care to ensure everyone feels included.

In all that I do, I draw from my personal, professional, spiritual, and academic experiences to create unique opportunities that honor connection, resilience, and healing. These experiences have shaped my perspective and approach, allowing me to bring together diverse ideas and practices to build something meaningful and impactful.

I’m set to graduate in May 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Cal Poly Humboldt, and my academic focus reflects my passion for connection and community-building. I’ve spent years studying and living the principles of meaningful relationships, strategic collaboration, and communal living, and I’m excited to continue finding ways to bring people together in ways that truly matter.

In a time when disconnection and fear often feel overwhelming, I’m committed to building a world where we rely on each other. Connection isn’t just nice to have—it’s essential. Whether it’s within ourselves, with loved ones, or with the natural world, the relationships we nurture can transform our lives. We need each other, and together, we can create a life that’s not only sustainable but deeply fulfilling.
